STRIKE TWO: Energy Dept. Official Accused of Stealing Luggage From Airport…Again

Biden Energy Department official Sam Brinton has once again been accused of stealing luggage from an airport. According to local CBS affiliate News 8, the latest incident occurred at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

News 8 reports that a felony warrant has been issued for Brinton, who is being charged for grand larceny with a value between $1,200 and $5,000.

This is the second such incident in as many weeks for Brinton, who serves as deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy and is one of the federal government’s first gender non-binary officials. Last week it was reported that Brinton had been charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing a Vera Bradley suitcase reportedly worth $2,325 from baggage claim at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport on Sept. 16.

Earlier this week, a group of House Republicans demanded that Brinton step down over the alleged theft, a demand that’s likely to grow louder with the latest accusations.

The Department of Energy has confirmed that Brinton is currently on leave, but will not say whether or not he is still on the department’s payroll.
