WINNING CIVILIZATION: Atonement for the Functionally Apathetic | Steve Berman

WINNING CIVILIZATION: Atonement for the Functionally Apathetic | Steve Berman

Today is the Jewish Day of Atonement, known as Yom Kippur. Observant Jews all over the world will begin fasting and praying at sundown today. It’s no ordinary fast, either. After the last drop of water is swallowed at sunset, nothing will be consumed or swallowed until sunset Wednesday. That’s called an “absolute fast” and …

I am going to start this with an unusual tweet from Jimmy Donaldson aka YouTuber “Mr. Beast”: Now, for the serious part. The top chess player in the world, Magnus Carlsen, after two weeks of silence, publicly accusedthe man who once beat him of cheating. Carlsen shocked the chess world by resigning after one move in his last match with …

As we edge closer to the mid-term elections, competitive congressional races are beginning to stand out, and the numbers become clearer. According to the latest Cook Political Report, Republicans need only take two seats more than their “leans” and favored toss-ups to gain the majority in the House. Democrats have to win 29 seats, after taking …

Sunday night begins the annual Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) festival, leading to a ten-day period bookended by the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). The days in the middle are known as the “Days of Awe” where everyone is highly encouraged to look inside and work out anything that’s not—to be corny—Kosher. These ten days …

POST-CHRISTIAN: America’s not Christian, and Jesus is Fine With That | Steve Berman

My mind—I apologize for giving you a TMI peek—frequently works in song. I wish Billy Joel would update “We Didn’t Start the Fire” with some modern lyrics. You know, start in the 90s with Rwanda, starving children in Somalia, Mogadishu, Kuwait, Saddam Hussein. Then into the millennium: 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, Osama bin Laden, George W. …

Fifty migrants arrived in the haut monde enclave of Martha’s Vinyard, off the coast of Cape Cod last week. They were sent there by Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis on two chartered planes, paid for by $12 million allocated by the legislature in a bipartisan budget “to facilitate the transport of unauthorized aliens out of Florida.” Mass Gov. Charlie Baker (a …

THANK BERNIE: The Trains Will Stop, and So Will Your EV | Steve Berman

If Congress doesn’t act, the railroad unions could strike as early as Friday morning. This would be really bad, and its widespread effects would be felt immediately, nationwide. Congress and previous presidents have acted before to block railroad unions and other critical industries like coal from striking. The railroads are a strange bird when it comes to U.S. industry. …

INFLATION: Billionaire Economics is Killing Us | Steve Berman

I might have just stumbled on the most bipartisan thing our political system has going. Both Democrats and Republicans are the party of the billionaires. Except right now, Democrats are doing everything they can do destroy the middle class, force half the country to be totally dependent on the government (read: socialism), and make basic …

GOD, FAMILY, COUNTRY: What is a Christian’s Patriotic Duty? | Steve Berman

Two events have this question at the top of my mind. First, yesterday was the anniversary of 9/11, which in its aftermath witnessed one of the greatest increases in church attendance ever seen in America. It also inaugurated a season of war, where non-Christian “evil-doers” and their enablers were to be purged from the face …

The pitied two dozen members of the Fulton County special grand jury investigating election interference by Donald J. EXPLOSIVE: After Winning a Special Master, Here’s Trump’s Next Move | Steve Berman

“Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result.” —Winston Churchill, 1898. This has been Donald J. Trump’s mantra, really for his whole life.  Trump is fresh from a victory in obtaining a special master to slow down the DOJ’s case regarding documents seized at Mar-a-Lago. His lawyers picked a judge …
