Both Republicans and Democrats are praising progress made on the billion-dollar infrastructure bill – but progressive squad members, including AOC and Cori Bush, can only see skin color.
“Is this the Bipartisan Infrastructure Group or the audience at a Kid Rock concert?” Bush wrote in a tweet along with a photo of the bipartisan group of white Senate negotiators and the hashtag “#NegotiationsSoWhite,” said Rep. Bush on Twitter.
AOC was also quick to criticize the people behind the bill instead of focusing on the content of the legislation.
“A lot of times, ‘bipartisan agreements’ are just as defined by who people in power agree to exclude than include,” she tweeted.
Mark Hemingway, a senior writer at RealClearInvestigations, tweeted a response to AOC’s comment highlighting her inability to focus on the bill’s merits.
“This from AOC, by the way, is not an argument. It is pure ad hominem that says nothing about the bill or its merits.
A healthy culture would repudiate her for judging legislation solely by the skin color of the people supporting it.”
