Last night a massive caravan of over 1,000 illegal migrants crossed the U.S.-Mexico border at El Paso, Texas, according to Fox News’ Bill Melugin. According to some estimates, the mass migration is among the largest single crossings along the West Texas border in recent years.
“Customs and Border Protection’s El Paso Sector on the Texas border with Mexico has seen an increase in encounters,” CBP said in a statement to Fox News on Monday afternoon. “In order to process individuals as safely and expeditiously as possible, Border Patrol agents from Big Bend and CBP Officers from El Paso Field Office are assisting with processing.”
The crossing comes as the city of El Paso struggles to keep up with the influx of migrants. According to reports from Border Patrol, that sector currently has around 5,100 migrants in custody already.
