WATCH: Disney Exec Wants 50% of Characters to be LGBTQIA+ or Other Minorities

More videos surfaced on social media this week showing Disney Executives discussing gender identity issues and other topics during a company video conference.

“I’m here as the mother of two queer children. One transgender child and one pansexual child… That was a thing that really got me,” said Karey Burke.

“I feel a responsibility to speak, not just for myself, but for them,” she added. “We have many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories, yet we don’t have enough leads. Narratives in which gay characters just get to be characters.”

“By 2022, 50% of regular and recurring characters across Disney General Entertainment scripted content will come from underrepresented groups,” states to the ‘Reimagine’ promotional material.
