Climate Czar John Kerry weighed-in recently on Russia’s territorial expansion into Ukraine, saying the war in Europe could simply distract world leaders from focusing on the real threat of climate change.
“I’m concerned about Ukraine because of the people of Ukraine. Because of the principles that are at risk in terms of international law… I thought we lived in a world that said ‘no’ to that kind of activity… The massive emissions consequences to the war… You’re going to lose people’s focus,” said Kerry.
“I hope President Putin will help us stay on track with respect to what we need to do for the climate,” he concluded.
