Suspending the border wall construction is costing almost as much as building the wall.
According to the Daily Mail, the Biden administration is paying contractors $3 million dollars a day to stand around guarding steel and supplies in the middle of the desert. Meanwhile, Customs and Border Protection revealed 188,829 migrants were stopped at the border in June.
If the trajectory continues, 1 million encounters will be logged by the CBP by the end of 2021.
“Since he took office on January 20, 2021, Biden’s suspension efforts have ‘cost taxpayers between $1.837 billion to $2.087 billion,’ according to the report by Ranking Member James Lankford,” the Daily Mail reports.
Trump funded 450 miles of border wall construction while in office, planning for 300 more. Biden brought all wall efforts to a standstill on day one of his presidency.
