The southern border is overwhelmed with immigrant crossings. According to Fox News, “the 208,887 number for August represents a 317% increase over last August 2020 which saw 50,014 apprehensions — and a 233% increase over August 2019, where there were 62,707 apprehensions during that year’s border crisis.”
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) shared a picture on Twitter of a shocked Joe Biden staring at the message, “Over 200,000 Illegal Aliens Apprehended at the Border in August.”
The Biden administration has taken heat for the record-breaking number of encounters, mainly for walking back regulations put in place by his predecessor to curb illegal immigration.
