By The FirstFar-left Senator Bernie Sanders left millions of users on social media scratching their heads this week, bizarrely asserting that nurses pay more in personal income taxes than billionaires.
“A nurse should not pay more in federal taxes than a billionaire,” posted Sanders on Twitter.
According to US tax code and data from the Labor Department, the average nurse earns $75,000 in income each year. That money would be taxed at a 22% rate, totaling $16,500.
A person earning a billion dollars would pay a 37% tax rate, totaling approximately $350,000,000 after deductions.
