By The FirstElon Musk, the owner of Twitter and Tesla, ignited a heated online debate when he publicly criticized billionaire George Soros for his involvement in controversial political causes including his financing of soft-on-crime district attorneys like New York City’s Alvin Bragg.
Musk openly criticized Soros, likening him to “Magneto”, a nefarious character from the X-Men comics. Musk went on to declare that Soros was attempting to “erode the very fabric of civilization” and that the financier “hates humanity.”
Through his organization, the Open Society Foundations, Soros has contributed millions to left-leaning political causes, including criminal justice reform, illegal immigration, and climate change. In 2021, Soros donated $1 million to a PAC called Color of Change which endorsed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and pledged $1 million to support his campaign.
