FLASHBACK 1994: Biden Votes to Slash Federal Funds for Schools that ‘Promote Homosexuality’

President Biden published a direct message to “transgender Americans of all ages” on social media Thursday to mark “Transgender Day of Visibility” in the United States.

Joe Biden took a drastically different approach during his time in the Senate. In 1994, then-Senator Biden voted to slash federal funding for any public school that “promoted homosexuality as a positive lifestyle.”

“Prohibits any LEA that receives funds under this Act from implementing a program or activity that has the purpose or effect of encouraging or supporting homosexuality as a positive lifestyle,” wrote legislation under the ‘Improving America’s Schools Act of 1994.’

“To everyone celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility, I want you to know that your President sees you. Jill, Kamala, Doug, our entire administration sees you for who you are,” said Biden from the White House.

“We know it’s hard when there are those out there who don’t see you and don’t respect you,” he added. “For example, the onslaught of anti-transgender state laws attacking you and your families is simply wrong.”

“This administration is standing up for you against all these hateful bills,” concluded the Commander-in-Chief. “We’re committed to advancing transgender equality in the classroom, on the playing field, at work, in our military, everywhere.”
