“55 of the largest corporations and Fortune 500 paid zero in federal taxes last year, and they made $40 billion in profits. […] Why in God’s name should a billion-dollar corporation pay a lower tax rate than a teacher or a firefighter?” asked Biden.
The median salary for a high school teacher in the United States is $62,000. According to the current tax code, that person would pay an annual tax of $9504.
