CNN’s Jake Tapper publicly blamed former host Chris Cuomo for the abrupt resignation of the network’s President this week; saying the anchor was behind an effort to oust Jeff Zucker.
“An outside observer might say, ‘Well, it looks like Chris Cuomo succeeded,’” Mr. Tapper said. “He threatened Jeff. Jeff said we don’t negotiate with terrorists. And Chris blew the place up. How do we get past that perception that this is the bad guy winning?”
Brian Stelter made similar comments shortly after the announcement.
“Cuomo was fired in December. He’s not going out quietly. He was fired, there were reports that he wasn’t getting millions of dollars that were on the remainder of his contract. A source said to me that he’s trying to burn the place down. He was going to the court, claiming he has incriminating information on Zucker,” said Stelter.
