BLOODY TUESDAY: DeSantis Campaign Sheds 1/3 of Staff as Poll Numbers Disappoint

Governor Ron DeSantis’s presidential primary campaign is seeing a significant shakeup, with more than one third of its campaign staff being let go. Amidst months of disappointing poll numbers, the DeSantis team is enacting a “campaign reset,” which will result in the loss of 38 jobs across several departments.

The layoffs, confirmed by advisers close to the campaign, come as part of a larger reconfiguration of the campaign’s strategy and infrastructure. With over 90 staff members on its payroll as of the end of June, according to recent federal filings, the cuts mark a significant decrease in the campaign’s workforce.

In a statement provided earlier today, DeSantis’s campaign manager Generra Peck outlined the campaign’s intention behind the move, indicating that it is an aggressive step towards improving the Governor’s prospects.

“Following a top-to-bottom review of our organization, we have taken additional, aggressive steps to streamline operations and put Ron DeSantis in the strongest position to win this primary and defeat Joe Biden,” said Peck. “Gov. DeSantis is going to lead the Great American Comeback and we’re ready to hit the ground running as we head into an important month of the campaign.”

The “campaign reset” signals an attempt to reverse the current trajectory of the DeSantis campaign, as the Governor’s bid for the presidency has struggled to gain the expected momentum in polls. It remains to be seen how these strategic changes will impact his standing in the primary race.
