41-COUNTS: Trump and Close Advisors Indicted in Georgia Over 2020 Election Efforts

Former President Donald Trump, along with 19 of his top advisors and attorneys, were indicted this Monday in the state of Georgia on charges linked to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.

According to the 41-count indictment, which is nearly 100 pages long, Trump faces charges of felony racketeering in addition to a slew of conspiracy allegations.

Among the prominent figures indicted alongside Trump are Rudy Giuliani, the ex-President’s personal attorney, and Mark Meadows, Trump’s former White House chief of staff. Jeffrey Clark, a high-ranking former official at the Justice Department, has also been named.

Legal figures closely associated with Trump during the post-election period, namely lawyers John Eastman, Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, Jenna Ellis, and Ray Smith, were also included in the indictment.

The charges pivot on violations of Georgia’s RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization) act, a law designed to combat organized crime by prosecuting leaders of a syndicate for the illegal actions they ordered others to do.
