What you should know about kids returning to school this fall

Mike Slater was joined this week by special guest Vincent Racaniello, professor of microbiology at Columbia University to talk about schools reopening this fall, which is just around the corner.

The professor said he believes we should open schools and added that there are two important facts to keep in mind ahead of re-opening: kids get sick way less than older people, but they transmit the virus at the same rate.

Racaniello explains what a “super spreader” is and argues that “we can’t shut down our world every time there’s another outbreak.”

Kids need to go back to school but we have to do it safely, he said.
