In this episode, Coach talks with former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory. Pat was the mayor of Charlotte for seven consecutive terms, making him the longest running mayor in their history. Charlotte experienced dramatic economic and developmental growth during Pat’s almost 15 years of leadership from 1995 to 2010. Pat led efforts to create major market infrastructure. With a focus on urban growth and sustainability, Pat helped bring many banking and corporate businesses to Charlotte. He also helped bring professional sports to Carolina and will be remembered as one of the most transformative figure in North Carolina history.

Curtis Sliwa – The Rebound
This week Coach Doherty discusses leadership with Curtis Sliwa. Curtis is a lifelong American activist and the founder of the Guardian Angels, a crime prevention organization in New York City. In the late 70’s then mayor Ed Koch had to eliminate police officers on subways at night and a group of diverse men, led by Curtis wearing his trademark red beret, all versed in karate but unarmed, roamed the subways to keep them safe. Along the way Sliwa started a broadcast career for over 30 years, was targeted by the mafia in New York City, and also ran for mayor. The Guardian Angels are now in 140 cities in 14 countries serving as the largest unarmed crime prevention organization in the world.
Bill Roggio – The Rebound
This week Coach Doherty talks with news and war veteran Bill Roggio. Bill is an American commentator on military affairs and the managing editor of The Long War Journal. Prior to leading a team of online commentators, Roggio was an active duty soldier in the United States Army in the 1990s. He became famous for his heroic embedded news reports, providing frontline honest conflict assessment, live from location in places like Afghanistan and Pakistan. Roggio’s brand of straight international on location journalism has earned him a unique spot in the delivery of news. In this discussion, Roggio provides critical insight into today’s news, the threat of censorship, and honest reporting.
Scott McEwen – The Rebound
Scott McEwen lives in San Diego where he began writing while practicing law. He grew up in Oregon where he became an Eagle Scout; hiking, fishing, and hunting at every opportunity presented. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Oregon, and thereafter studied in London, England. Scott works with and provides support for several military charitable organizations, including the Seal Team Foundation. Scott has written 12 books and sold millions of copies. His book about the life of Naval SEAL Chris Kyle, American Sniper, became a film directed by Clint Eastwood starring Bradley Cooper and won many awards.
