The unprecedented progress being made on COVID-19

Columbia University Virology Professor Vincent Racaniello joined Mike Slater on Monday to brief him on the latest on the COVID-19 treatment and vaccine front.

Racaniello said the treatment made by Regeneron which President Trump received was developed incredibly fast and was given to the president after being tested on just 250 clinical patients. He was even more impressed by the unprecedented progress on the vaccine front:

“We’ve never done it this quickly. Just for some perspective: we still don’t have an AIDS vaccine and we’ve been working since 1985. Polio vaccine took 50 years. Most vaccines take 10 years or so. This is less than a year.”
