THE GREAT ESCAPE: Kamala Harris Loses Another Senior Staffer, Second This Week

It’s been a terrible week for Kamala Harris.

First, the Veep loses Vincent Evans, her deputy director of public engagement and intergovernmental affairs. Now, she’s losing Peter Velt, director of press operations.

“Today is my last day at the White House, and it truly has been an honor. I will be forever grateful to Vice President Harris, the incredible Team @VP, and I’m so proud of our work this past year supporting this historic Administration,” Velz tweeted.

And before them, senior advisor Symone Sanders.

And before her, communications director Ashley Etienne.

The Veep has been losing staff members in droves, especially after a recent CNN article exposed the dysfunction and infighting within her office.

“Worn out by what they see as entrenched dysfunction and lack of focus, key West Wing aides have largely thrown up their hands at Vice President Kamala Harris and her staff — deciding there simply isn’t time to deal with them right now,” CNN wrote in the article Exasperation and dysfunction: Inside Kamala Harris’ frustrating start as vice president.

Harris is currently experiencing some of the worst approval numbers recorded for a modern Vice President; a recent USA Today/Suffolk poll has her at just 28%.
