NO MORE TEACHER’S DIRTY LOOKS: DeSantis Proposes $1 Billion in Education Spending, $600 Million to Raise Salaries

Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is proposing quite a commitment to education in the Sunshine State – one billion dollars in budget recommendations.

“We’ve invested in increasing teacher pay. We’ve invested in early learning. We’ve expanded school choice,” DeSantis said. “We’ve invested in vocational and technical education and we really want to be able to keep that momentum going.”

“We want to make sure that people have the tools that they need to succeed. We place emphasis where we think it really matters on things like early learning and early literacy,” DeSantis added.

DeSantis’ proposal includes bonuses, pay raises, and more to guarantee Florida is an attractive location for the best educators in the nation; he plans to raise per-student funding to $8,000 each school year and contribute more than $420 million to mental health and safety initiatives.
