JUST IN: Hochul Declares ‘Transgender Awareness Month’ One Week after Close Election

New York Governor Kathy Hochul unveiled ‘Transgender Awareness Month’ Wednesday just one week after winning a close election with Republican Lee Zeldin.

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) proclaimed November to be Transgender Awareness Month in one of her first moves following reelection. The governor faced a tough challenge from Republican competitor Lee Zeldinbut ultimately prevailed. 

On Wednesday, Hochul’s office issued the proclamation “to celebrate the trans community in New York State and across the country.”

“This November, I’m proud to celebrate Transgender Awareness Month to highlight the countless contributions that members of the transgender community have made to our state,” she said in a press release.
