GREASY GAV: Dems ‘Getting Destroyed’ on Messaging, ‘Have to Do Better’

California Governor Gavin Newsom told CBS News’ Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett in an interview that aired Wednesday that Democrats will have to do better in getting their message across to voters; “we’re going to have to do better in terms of getting on the offense and stop being on the damn defense,” Newsom says.

Newsom admits you can feel the GOP momentum.

“Does it feel like a red wave?” Washington Correspondent Major Garrett asked the governor. “Yeah, of course it does,” Newsom replied.  “I get it. Look, I mean I could be the cheerleader. I’m also pragmatic. You feel it,” Newsom said.

From The Daily Mail:

Newsom has been circulated as a presidential candidate in 2024 if 79-year-old Biden does not run again, and he’s recently picked fights with his GOP counterparts by running ads in states like Florida and Texas.

He’s barely bothered with any sort of re-election campaign in deep blue California. Now he’s running against a severely underfunded Republican and is up 20 points in the polls – despite almost being recalled last year.

The governor said he had no plans to run for president. “How can you be so sure?” Garrett asked. “Because it’s not my ambition, because it’s not the direction I’m leaning into, it’s not the moment.”
