KISS AND MAKE UP: Rogers Apologizes to Gaetz…’Sorry I Lost My Temper’

Time to kiss and make up.

Rep. Mike Rogers of Alabama and Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida appear to have buried the hatchet, with both making public statements following their confrontation on the house floor on Friday.

Rep. Rogers, who is expected to become the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, took to Twitter on Sunday to offer his regrets.

“[Rep. Matt Gaetz] and I have a long and productive working relationship, that I am sure will continue,” Rogers tweeted on Sunday. “I regret that I briefly lost my temper on the House Floor Friday evening and appreciate Matt’s kind understanding.”

Rogers’ apology comes after Rep. Gaetz spoke out publicly about the incident, telling Fox News that he respects and forgives Rogers.

“Mike Rogers and I have a six-year productive, working relationship,” Gaetz said on Fox News Sunday. “We’re going to work together wonderfully going forward. I don’t think there should be any punishment or reprisal just because he had an animated moment. He has my forgiveness.”
