NANCY DENOUNCES DeSANTIS: Parental Rights Bill is ‘Cruel’, Bullies LGBTQ Students

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was quick to condemn Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his Parental Rights in Education bill on Monday, calling it “cruel” and accusing it of sending a harmful message.

“This cruel legislation is an affront to our Nation’s cherished values and sends a harmful message to our children. @GovRonDeSantis and Florida Republicans have chosen to needlessly bully, isolate and demean LGBTQ students.”

DeSantis’ Parental Rights in Education bill has been mischaracterized but he left, with some opponents labeling it the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Meanwhile, the bill actually states:  “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

Any school district that violates the bill, can be sued by parents.
